I.        Old Business
             A.        Storage Unit
                     •        Board approved that we will obtain a 5x5 space at Public Storage, located on Hempstead
Turnpike in Bethpage at a cost of $70/month
             B.        Review proposed by-laws
                     •        Each board member will read and send approval to Lisa by the 31st. (The board had a
conference call the following week to discuss any suggested revisions.)
             C.        Tax form
                     •        Maryann has entered our tax form (990EZ) to the IRS on time. A copy was sent to
                                     National.
             D.        Apple Festival – Two issues came up:
                     •        There were no balloons. This was due to budget restraints.
o        In the future, while there will be a budget figure given to the chairperson, that number
can be increased with board approval.
o        Jill suggested that we buy them in bulk so that the cost per balloon will be reduced and
there would be no time crunch getting them in time for the next few festivals.
                     •        There was no tent, which was due to a communication failure with Mill Neck
o        LIRID never received confirmation of our request from Mill Neck and so we were
never able to fill out a request
o        Jill spoke with Nancy Leghorn about this to see what went wrong
             E.        CEU sponsorship
                     •        Cost is $150 annually
                     •        The question was raised whether this would require a new committee or whether it could
be done through the PD committee. Will bring it up at next general meeting.

II.        New Business
             A.        November General meeting
                     •        Interpreters (check with Toni) – Lisa will follow up with Toni
                     •        Food and Drinks (contact Diane Bostic and Stacey Rubin) – Jill will e-mail each of them
with what they need to bring and at what time.
             B.        General  meetings  at  Suffolk Community College/other SC locations
                     •        March meeting set for SCC
o        We need to confirm that past issues with this location have been resolved. Check with
                                             Jane Hecker-Cain.
                     •        Lisa will continue her search for a possible library location. One problem with the use of a
                                     library is space.
             C.        Suffolk Community College info session w/ ITP students – Lisa and Christine will attend
             D.        Committee Reports – see attached reports
                     •        Upcoming newsletter – new chair is Angela Piteris

o        Hockey game – Will hold off until January so Angela can get a grip on this new
fundraiser.  Maybe Rangers on Jan 13th and the Devils on March 7th?
             E.        Jim Lipsky Workshop – October 25th and 26th. Things are going well but it is not yet full.
             F.        Bill Moody workshop (January)
                     •        If it is held after the general meeting would the meeting go from 10-11 and the
                                     workshop 11-5?
                     •        Do we really want to get pulled into another Mill Neck-sponsored workshop?
                     •        Laurie will talk to both Tara and Judi.
