Welcome to Long Island Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf.  We hope you enjoy the new look.  
The website was designed to provide information about our organization and profession

Mission Statement: LIRID’s mission is to work together with the Deaf Community to meet the
interpreting needs of Long Island residents by providing local forums, peer and professional
support, and organizational structure for the continued development and growth for the
profession.

Philosophy: The philosophy of LIRID is that excellence in the delivery of interpretation services
among people who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing and people who are hearing will ensure effective
communication. As an affiliate chapter of the professional association for interpreters and
transliterators, LIRID serves as an essential arena for its members in the pursuit of excellence.

Goal: It is the goal of LIRID to promote the profession of interpreting and transliterating
American Sign Language and English.
